Chlorophyll

A green pigment, chlorophyll is perhaps best known for its important role in the photosynthesis process in plants. However, it is also present in mammals too and is just as vital.

In plants, chlorophyll allows them to absorb energy from sunlight while in humans it helps to eliminate toxins from the body. Green plants – where chlorophyll is found – are extremely beneficial and contain antioxidants, vitamins and minerals all of which are necessary for wellbeing.

Chlorophyll helps to heal, promote weight loss and can even protect against some diseases, as well as offering support to the cardiovascular system.

Vitamins

As a micronutrient, vitamins are critical to the functioning of the body. As the cells cannot synthesize micronutrients themselves, vitamins must be obtained via the diet. The only exception to this is Vitamin D which can be freely obtained through exposure to sunlight.

All the vitamins have different roles which is why it’s important to have a good intake of them all. Fighting infection, nerve function, energy and clotting are just some of the functions which rely on certain vitamins.

There are supplements available which contain vitamins but these don’t act in the same way as natural vitamins obtained from the original source.

Royal Spirulina contains whole-plant vitamins in their natural form, which offer excellent bioavailability and maximum health benefits. In Royal Spirulina you’ll find:

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9 and B12
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E
  • Vitamin K
  • Choline

The only vitamin that Royal Spirulina doesn’t contain is Vitamin D, which is what you’ll get from the sun.

PHYCOCYANIN

Coming from the phycobiliprotein family, phycocyanin is a blue pigment which is a protein compound that complements chlorophyll. Phycocyanin is one of the hottest areas of research right now, with studies suggesting that it could contain cancer-fighting properties. Believed to be able to not just prevent the spread of cells but kill the cancer cells outright, phycocyanin interrupts the tumor cycle causing it to turn on itself and die.

Phycocyanin is also believed to be able to protect the liver and kidneys, boost the immune system, prevent inflammation and act as an antioxidant, making it an all-round good guy!

Royal Spirulina contains more than 10% of pure phycocyanin making it a viable source for the super-pigment.

Minerals

Minerals are often referred to alongside vitamins as they’re also essential for your body to properly function. The different types of minerals support the body in different ways from bone growth and health to your heart rhythm.

Minerals are chemical elements that occur naturally which mean they cannot be made within the body. Nearly all of the minerals that we need are obtained either through what we drink or what we eat. Along with amino acids, vitamins and essential fatty acids, minerals are one of the essential nutrients for the body.

Many of the minerals within the body are present in small quantities known as trace elements. There are many of these but the ones which have a very specific function include sulfur, chlorine, iron, copper, cobalt, zinc, manganese, selenium, iodine and molybdenum.

There are five minerals which are present in the body in larger volumes. These are magnesium, sodium, potassium, phosphorus and calcium.

Royal Spirulina contains a full complement of both primary minerals and trace elements, delivering a powerful shot of nutrients which is difficult to find elsewhere.

ANTIOXIDANTS

Often produced as a result of environmental factors, free radicals are unstable molecules which can cause damage to the cells in the body. Their common name is “free radical scavengers” which accurately describes their effect.

Processing the food consumed and the surrounding environment creates free radicals; these are effectively waste substances that the body must eliminate. When free radicals aren’t swiftly removed, damage occurs due to the resulting oxidative stress.

Antioxidants offer a powerful solution to free radicals, sweeping them up and slowing or stopping the damage caused. Royal Spirulina is a dense source of antioxidants, helping to limit the actions of free radicals and protecting the cells in the body.

PHYTONUTRIENTS

As a type of plant-based nutrient, phytonutrients help to promote wellbeing within the human body. Phytonutrients are separate to elements such as fats, carbohydrates, protein, vitamin and minerals. They have bioavailability when consumed and work by boosting the immune system.

With the ability to alter immune function, research into the role of phytonutrients is still in its infancy. It’s theorized that phytonutrients may be able to play a part in clinical treatments as they don’t cause the same unpleasant side effects such as radiotherapy or chemotherapy. What is known is that phytonutrients modulate and maintain the immune function, and in doing so have the capacity to prevent some types of diseases.

Royal Spirulina has an abundance of living phytonutrients, the most powerful form, that can deliver incredible efficacy to promote healthy functioning of the body.

AMINO ACIDS

The body is unable to manufacture amino acids itself so it’s critical to make sure you have a sufficient intake. All 9 of the essential amino acids are found within Royal Spirulina – here’s a list of them all and what they do:

  • Histidine – synthesizes proteins such as hemoglobin and plays a role in the immune system
  • Isoleucine – promotes healthy growth
  • Leucine – essential for healthy brain function
  • Lysine – produces hormones, enzymes and antibodies
  • Methionine – contains antioxidant qualities
  • Phenylalanine – contributes to thyroid function
  • Threonine – boosts digestive and intestinal function
  • Tryptophan – promotes relaxation and regulates levels of serotonin
  • Valine – provides physical and mental stimulation

PROTEIN

You only need a basic understanding of nutrients to appreciate how important protein is to the human body. Every cell needs protein for proper functioning; protein repairs and builds tissue, creates enzymes and also produces hormones and other chemicals within the body. Protein is often described as the building block of the body, necessary for skin, blood, muscles, bones and cartilage.

Protein is one of the macronutrients – together with fats and carbohydrate – which means that compared to other substances, the body needs large quantities to continue to function. Compare protein to vitamins and minerals which are known as micronutrients as much smaller amounts are needed.

The main difference between the macronutrients is that the body is unable to store protein, which is why it’s so important to consume regular quantities.

Amino acids are the raw form of protein and Royal Spirulina contains the full nine. With full bioavailability, your body is able to process the protein from Royal Spirulina for maximum usage when needed.

SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE

Although we’ve already mentioned antioxidants, superoxide dismutase (SOD) is worth a specific mention. Technically an enzyme, SOD is the most powerful antioxidant that our body is able to synthesize.

SOD can be detected in nearly every living cell and it’s instrumental in breaking down the toxic substance known as superoxide radical by turning it into either hydrogen peroxide or oxygen.

Regulating superoxide is vital as it’s a product that can’t be avoided. It’s created by the metabolism of oxygen within the body and has the potential to cause catastrophic damage. SOD acts as the first line of antioxidant defense for nearly every cell.

Unfortunately, SOD is a very fragile substance which means it’s very difficult to make it a bioavailable version synthetically. However, as a living food Royal Spirulina contains bioactive SOD which can be utilized for full effect.

OMEGA 3 FATTY ACIDS

Omega Fatty Acids are essential for survival and must be obtained from the diet. Polyunsaturated, fatty acids are not like the “bad fats” you may have been cautioned about but instead are vital for healthy functioning of the body.

Omega-3 more specifically plays a part in cell membranes and also metabolism. A deficiency in Omega-3 could lead to heart disease and diabetes as well as contributing to obesity.

Very few diets in the Western world contain sufficient amounts of Omega-3 so supplementation is very beneficial. Royal Spirulina contains three types of Omega-3: EPA, DHA and ALA, making it much easier to get your recommended intake.

This abundance of Omega-3 means that Royal Spirulina can help to protect your body by reducing inflammation as well as promoting glossy hair and smooth skin. Who knew that being your beautiful best was this easy?!

Omega-6 Fatty Acids

As you might expect, Omega-6 Fatty Acids are similar to Omega-3, but just contain some subtle differences in molecular structure.

Omega-6 is also critical for wellbeing but also frequently lacking, so a supplementary intake can produce significant results.

Aside from breast milk, Royal Spirulina is the best source of GLA, one of the primary types of fatty aside found in Omega-6. It helps to reduce inflammations, provides energy and is also useful for harmonizing female hormones.

BIOACTIVE ENZYMES

Enzymes are critical to the body, acting as the catalyst for all kinds of complex chain reactions from the metabolism to breathing. No-one can survive without properly functioning enzymes.

The chain can be long and convoluted but put simply the substance which the enzyme reacts with is known as a substrate. When combined with the enzyme, this substrate into a different molecular structure known as a product.

Enzymes are even vital at a genetic level, regulating, decoding, coding and controlling the expression of genes. DNA and RNA are nucleic acids which together form one of the major macromolecules which are essential for every recognized form of life. Along with glycogen, sulfolipids and other nutrients, Royal Spirulina is a rich source of DNA and RNA.
